Sonam Phuntsho
Associate Director, Financial Institutions Training Institute Limited, Thimphu, Bhutan
Sonam Phuntsho is the Associate Director and Company Secretary of the Financial Institutions Training Institute (FITI), Bhutan, bringing over 19 years of experience across education, curriculum development, institutional leadership, and financial sector capacity development. He previously served as Interim Chief Executive Officer and Head of Training, Curriculum Design, and Marketing, leading initiatives in organisational development, human resource management, and national training programs. Presently he assist the management to oversee training development and management, financial management, research and consultancy activities.
Earlier in his career, he contributed extensively to Bhutan’s education sector as a Curriculum Developer with national agencies and as an Economics teacher and academic leader, supporting curriculum reform and professional development programs nationwide. He also served as Chairperson of the National Financial Literacy Strategy Working Group, contributing to nationwide financial education initiatives.
He holds a Master’s degree in Economics and is a recipient of the National Order of Merit awarded by His Majesty the King in recognition of his outstanding public service.
