Heru Kristiyana

President Director, Indonesian Banking Development Institute (LPPI)

Heru Kristiyana is an experienced financial sector leader with more than four decades of service in Indonesia’s banking regulation, supervision, and institutional leadership. He graduated from the Faculty of Law, Diponegoro University, and began his professional career at Bank Indonesia in 1982, where he built a strong foundation in banking regulation and supervision. To strengthen his expertise, he later pursued and completed a Master’s degree in Economics, complementing his legal background with a solid understanding of macroeconomic and financial systems.

During his long tenure at Bank Indonesia, Heru Kristiyana held various strategic roles, culminating in his appointment as Executive Director of the Department of Bank Supervision 3 in 2013. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing banking supervision and ensuring the stability, soundness, and compliance of financial institutions under his purview, particularly during a period of evolving regulatory and risk landscapes.

In 2014, he was appointed Deputy Commissioner for Banking Supervision IV at the Financial Services Authority (OJK), where he continued to play a critical role in strengthening Indonesia’s financial sector oversight framework. His leadership and expertise led to his subsequent appointment as a Member of the OJK Board of Commissioners for the 2017–2022 term, contributing to policy formulation, regulatory development, and strategic decision-making at the national level.

Following his public sector service, Heru Kristiyana served as an Independent Commissioner of Bank Mandiri from 2023 to 2025, providing governance oversight and strategic guidance at one of Indonesia’s largest state-owned banks. He currently serves as President Director of LPPI, where he leads the institution in advancing capability development, leadership education, and strategic partnerships to support the sustainable growth of Indonesia’s banking and financial services industry.
